The buds are relatively small but they are so packed with petals that they are not fully closed at the tips.

As the flowers begin to open they are almost spherical and very much cabbage-shaped.

As the flowers continue to open they reveal densely packed petals. The very double flowers are almost quartered.

The fully opened flowers are relatively flat. The blooms tend to be a dark redish-pink in the summer.

The blooms are nearly purple in cooler weather, and the center of the stipules are red.

"Prado's Purple Cabbage" is a wonderful globular rose with very double, highly fragrant, quartered flowers that are produced in moderate clusters throughout the growing season

It is an unusually prolific bloomer. One specimen was observed in late November with 36 buds extending above the foliage.
